About the WCN lab

The Wireless Communications and Networking laboratory (WCN lab) was established by Prof. Huai-Sheng Huang from the Department of Information Management at the Fu Jen Catholic University in September 2016, and was relocated to National Taipei University in 2021.

We focus on several innovative areas, including Edge Computing (deployment), Cloud Computing (Tools), and Telecommunications (Infrastructure)


Edge Computing (deployment)

實驗室以研究成果佈署於終端運算設備,將其轉變為可demo之成果。近年研究著重於延展實境 (Extended Reality, XR)之相關議題,包含有:

  • 即時共享3D人體姿態估計:以混和實境之下半身為例
  • 於混和實境中即時重建被遮蔽之下半身人體姿態:以虛擬化身為例
  • 自主訓練代理人:以混和實境球類運動為例
  • A Lightweight Method for Restoring Face Covered by VR Headset (適用於VR頭盔之輕量化遮蔽面部還原方法)
  • Identifying Emotions for Virtual Reality Based on Eye Tracking (運用眼球追蹤識別虛擬實境內之使用者情緒)

而在IoT方面,則包含有:

  • An autonomous Mobile Robot System based on Serverless Computing and Edge Computing (基於影像辨識之自走車應用系統)
  • 腦電圖之輕量化分類演算法:以癲癇為例
  • 植株健康資訊管理及金針花色澤分析應用於智慧雲端農業
  • A Practical Study of QoE on Cloud Gaming in 5G Networks (5G網路應用於雲端遊戲之QoE實務探討)

研究之餘,亦參與諸多國內外XR競賽,包含有:

  • XR Golden Awards (XR創星金點大賞)
  • International ICT Innovative Services Awards (全國大專校院資訊應用服務創新競賽)

Cloud Computing (Tools)

實驗室師生以各類雲端運算服務以及AI服務作為研究以及實作之工具,藉此加速開發成果,包含有:

  • SkillsRanger: Action Research on a GenAI-Co-Created Cloud-Based Practical Testing Platform Integrated with PBL (師生基於GenAI 共創之雲端實作測驗平台結合PBL問題導向學習之行動研究)
  • Cloud-based Online Charging System for B5G/6G (結合雲端運算並適用於B5G/6G之即時計費系統)

而在AI領域,則包含有:

  • A Gesture-based Interpersonal Favorability Recognition Model in Extended Reality (延展實境使用者手勢之互動好感度辨識模型)
  • A Meta-Learning based Network Data Analytic Function for Internet Traffic Prediction (透過元學習實作網路數據分析功能之流量預測機制)

研究之餘,亦參與諸多國內外雲端運算競賽,包含有:

Telecommunications (Infrastructure)

作為一切研究的基礎,實驗室以最先進的通訊網路做為研究基底,深耕於省電排程以及計費系統,包含有:

  • Power saving scheme for XR devices in 5G era (適用於延展實境設備之5G省電機制)
  • An Experimental Field Trial of Private 5G Network Streaming in Campus (5G 專網應用於校園場域串流實證)
  • A Network Function Virtualization based Charging System for Cost-Effectiveness in B5G Era (在B5G時代利用網路功能虛擬化建立具成本效益之計費系統)
  • C-NWDAF: Designing a Cloud-based Multi-Model Architecture for Network Data Analytics Function (適用於雲端多模型架構的網路數據分析功能)

研究之餘,亦參與諸多國內外通訊競賽,包含有:

  • Mobileheros (通訊大賽)

體能訓練

研究之餘,學生們的體能健康亦為實驗室所關心之要點。畢業前除了必須完成論文之外,亦需完成實驗室的傳統,登上台灣百岳:七星山主峰,以證明未來有足夠的體能面對工作上的考驗。
